The Refractory Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and safety of our metal production processes by overseeing the design, selection, installation, and maintenance of refractory materials used in our furnaces, kilns, and other high-temperature equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
Assessing the requirements of different production processes and selecting appropriate refractory materials based on factors such as temperature, chemical composition and mechanical stress.

Carrying out process engineering studies within the context of site modifications (SMR) or field development/ facilities upgrade projects.

The Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) team tackles space exploration’s toughest problems by developing the heat shields for our next generation rockets and spacecraft. This hardware must survive the most extreme environments known to mankind and protect our vehicle through atmospheric entry. As a technician on the TPS team, you will thrive in a hands-on environment and will spend time in the office, on the factory floor, and in the lab to execute on the SpaceX mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Preprocess and manufacture ceramic fibers, filaments, and powders required for the fabrication of next tier products (candidate must be comfortable working with these types of ceramic materials)
Fabricate ceramic refractory billets, ceramic tiles, thermal gap fillers, coatings, and other components required for a robust thermal protection system

Refractory Multiskilled Installer Manager

Installation of brick and refractory materials into shapes and combinations in line with the project specification.
* Responsible for planning and organization of refractory repairs and turnarounds
*Oversee the installation, maintenance, and management of refractory in the plant
* Define and execute process-related improvements, material utilization and energy efficiency.
* Ability to read and interpret design and implement  same as per the project requirements
* Responsible for keying in brick rings; Welding, cutting, grinding, installing anchors, forming, and pouring in line with the project requirements.
* Installation of refractories products using various applications including, gunning and shotcrete applications
* Able to interpret and understand drawings e.g. Anchor centering/pattern, brick combinations
Performs preventative maintenance on equipment rotary guns, jackhammers, brick saws, and other equipment.
* Operate equipment and machinery including but not limited to forklifts, man lifts, and scissor lifts.

B.Sc. in Engineering
10 years of refractory work experience required
Relevant educational background e.g. Refractory or Masonry qualification preferred
Welding and forming & pouring practical experience is advantageous
Knowledge of OSHA/MSHA safety requirements
Focus on safe work practices, a strong work ethic, good attitude

 

Refractory Site Installation Manager

Ensure permits and continuous risk assessment compliance (Due diligence – CTO over inspection)
Over inspect pre use inspections.
Assist SHEQ Officer to draw up method statements for Critical and Routine tasks.
Supervising, planning and delegating work to be undertaken.
Provide feedback on work progress on a daily basis.
Ensuring work safety, quality, and productivity.
Calculations of mass of structural steelwork salvaged or stripped.
Accurate calculations of SMP work to submit to relevant person for Quotations and Claims.
Reaching monthly HSE targets.
Reaching monthly production targets.
Upholding Company’s core value, ethics, policies, and procedures.
Relieve Site Manager as and when required. Legal appointment would be required during such times.
Ensure adherence/compliance to Company policies and procedures.

10+ Years experience within the same or similar role. Construction and heavy fabrication awareness (project size dependent). Familiar with all portable tools. Be able to motivate the team. Computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Structural Steel Manufacturing, Platework Fabrication.
Mechanical Support Fabrication.
Pressure Vessels and Pressure Piping Fabrication.
Pipe and Fitting Fabrication, Mild/Carbon/Stainless Steel.
Hardwearing Plates.
HDPE Piping & Fittings.
SMPP Turnkey Project work including civils.
Green & Brownfields Work.
Furnace Steelwork, fabrication and Installation.

Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle
Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed)
Feed raw materials or parts to semi-automated machines
Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools
Test operation of machines periodically
Fix issues that might occur during the shift
Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws
Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
Maintain activity logs

At least 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (calliper, micrometre etc.)
Understanding of production procedures
Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
